Beaver Builder is a great WordPress page builder plugin. But the first question that everyone gets before using it is, does Beaver Builder work with any theme?
Yes, Beaver Builder works with all themes. However, to get the full benefit of Beaver Builder’s features, it is best to use it with themes that provide flexibility in designing a website. Astra, GeneratePress, and Beaver Builder Theme are some of the recommended themes to use with Beaver Builder.
With that said, let me explain this in more detail.
Why Does Beaver Builder Work With Every Theme?
Beaver Builder is a WordPress plugin. So it is designed to work with all themes, just like all other WordPress plugins.
You just have to install and activate Beaver Builder, and then you can build your pages using it.
It’s not like Beaver Builder will not open up or act wonky if you use it with a theme of your choice.
As long as the theme is well-coded and follows WordPress coding standards, Beaver Builder should work smoothly with the theme.
However, your theme might not work seamlessly with Beaver Builder.
Confused?
Let me explain.

Why All Themes Might Not Work Seamlessly With Beaver Builder?
Most of the themes that were developed previously did not give any customization options to their users.
They wouldn’t let you disable header and footer on specific pages, did not let you set a page to full-width, did not let you change fonts and colors, etc.
To do such things, you had to write code. These themes did not let you do any such design things without writing code.
So, if you have such a theme, then you will be limited to what you can do with it to design your site. Even Beaver Builder cannot help you in this case.
For example, if your theme does not allow you to make a page full-width, then Beaver Builder won’t be able to make it full-width either.
That is why it is always better if you choose a theme that provides you with enough customization flexibility so that you can make it work seamlessly with Beaver Builder.
Okay! But how do you choose such a theme?
How To Choose A Theme That Can Work Seamlessly With Beaver Builder?
Here are the most important things that you should look for in a theme so that it works seamlessly with Beaver Builder:
- Has minimal design and maximum design flexibility,
- Lets you make specific pages full-width,
- Allows you to disable the header and footer on specific pages,
- Comes with good customer support.
Let’s talk about each of these now…
A Theme That Has Minimal Design And Maximum Design Flexibility
Whenever you choose a theme for any page builder plugin, not just Beaver Builder, you need to make sure that it doesn’t come with a lot of pre-designed pages out-of-the-box.
Such themes make it very difficult to override their design and create something that you want.
At the same time, the theme should also have sufficient non-coding design options so that you can quickly change the look and feel of your website.
For example, the theme should have options to let you quickly make pages full-width, disable header and footer, change fonts and colors, etc.
This way, you will get total freedom while designing pages with Beaver Builder.
A Theme That Lets You Make Specific Pages Full-Width
This is one thing that can really hamper your experience while using Beaver Builder.
Many themes set pre-defined widths for the pages. And there is no way to stretch a page to make it full-width.
Sooner than later, you will want to design pages that stretch from the left side of the screen to the right.
And when you want to do that, you will be limited by your theme.
While you can design a page that is not full-width with Beaver Builder, it won’t really look good when there are blank spaces on the left-side and right-side of the page.
So it is better to choose a theme that allows you to make specific pages full-width.
This way, you will be able to make some pages full-width and design them with Beaver Builder. For example, the Home Page, About Page, Sales Page, etc.

A Theme That Allows You To Disable Header And Footer On Specific Pages
This is another thing that can totally frustrate you while using Beaver Builder.
It is very frustrating when your theme does not allow you to create pages on which you cannot disable the theme’s default header or footer.
For some specific pages, like a Sales Page, Email Signup Page, etc. you might not want to show the default menu or the default footer.
Your theme should have the option to let you disable the header or footer or both on specific pages.
That way, you can design your pages without any limitations using the Beaver Builder plugin.
A Theme With Good Customer Support
Good customer support is essential while choosing any theme, not just for Beaver Builder.
However, a page builder plugin is complex than most other plugins. There are good chances that you will run into issues while using a page builder plugin with a theme.
That is why it is better to get a theme that comes with good customer support so that your issues can get resolved fast.
Beaver Builder already comes with excellent customer support, so you don’t have to worry about it.
Alright! But which themes tick all these criteria?

Themes That Work Seamlessly With Beaver Builder
I have used a lot of themes over all these years.
Some great, some average, and some outright useless.
The themes that I have come to like and the ones that I have found to work seamlessly with Beaver Builder are the Astra theme, GeneratePress theme, and Beaver Builder theme.
All of these 3 themes are great and work seamlessly with Beaver Builder.
These themes will let you make the full use of Beaver Builder and not limit you in designing your website.
Now! What if you want to use some other theme?
As I said earlier, Beaver Builder is compatible with most of the themes.
So you should be able to use Beaver Builder with any theme.
However, if you still have doubts, you can always check with the theme developer to confirm that their theme works fine with Beaver Builder.
